Work is one of the ways of transmitting energy
between bodies.
To carry out work it is necessary to exert a force on a body and that
the body moves.
The work, W, of a force on a body is equal to the product of the
component of the force in the direction of the movement, Fx, times the
displacement, s, of the body
W=Fx.s
Work,
W, is measured in joules (J). Force is measured in newtons (N) and
displacement in metres (m).
The following visual will help you understand the concept of work by
modifying the force and the angle which it forms with the horizontal.
